Breakfast at Stone Green Farm
We are proud to be part of the Breakfast Accreditation Scheme, run in partnership between Produced in Kent and Visit Kent, which confirms our commitment to using local produce and suppliers wherever possible. A little about what we serve to you at breakfast time at Stone Green Farm ….
You will be starting your breakfast with the choice of a glass of Pear Juice from Perry Court Farm, Bilting or perhaps a glass of chilled, clear Apple Juice from Biddenden Vineyards. We serve Pluckley breakfast tea, an Assam blend prepared for over 25 years, from the Kent & Sussex Tea & Coffee Co. Freshly brewed coffee or Fairtrade herbal or decaffeinated tea options are also available.
Before guests have the cooked option of their choice we offer a selection of traditional cereals, together with yoghurt, locally sourced where possible, and fresh fruit . Depending upon the season we like to provide fresh Kent strawberries or other soft fruit, a compote – maybe apple and mixed fruit, rhubarb or plum, delicious with yoghurt and may be a little muesli. Where possible we use fruit from our garden or sourced from local farm shops.
For guests wanting porridge we use organic rolled oats from Perry Court Farm, Bilting. Thick double cream and brown sugar compliments this. Perry Court organic flour is used in the lightly spiced Scotch pancakes, which we serve dusted with icing sugar and drizzled with maple syrup.
Our traditional Kentish breakfast combines the best the area can supply. We have specially prepared pork & hop sausages from TL Coopers of Aldington. Marlowe’s Butchers in Ashford are able to supply a lovely mild smoked back bacon enjoyed by all our guests. We serve different Kentish potato options, depending upon the season. There may be sautéed new potatoes with herbs, potato cakes or potato scones offered. Our mushrooms and tomatoes are Kentish where possible and, if not, English produce will be used. We have our own hens, you may see them wandering around the garden, laying eggs for breakfast. If they can’t keep up with our guests we have a local free range chicken farm just half a mile from Stone Green Farm.
The eggs are also used for “eggy” bread and Kent toast – either a savoury or sweet option of bread dipped in egg and milk and gently fried.
Breakfast is rounded off with your choice of granary or white toast. The bread, croissants and pastries are freshly made and delivered daily by Davis’s Bakery, based in Ashford, another longstanding family business. We serve a selection of jams and marmalade, handmade by The Wooden Spoon Co., based in Wye. Honey comes from Perry Court, Bilting or a local apiarist – bees willing! When we can find a Kentish option to Nutella, approved of by our younger guests, we will use that too!
All the items we serve are available directly from the suppliers we use. We are more than happy to give information and directions should you wish to visit them during your visit to Kent. Many of them carry a wide selection of other items which make great gifts as well as treats for you.
